Internet Service Terms of Service

Chapter 1General Provisions

Article 1(Purpose)

The purpose of these Terms is to set out the conditions and procedures for the use of the services provided by the Hyundai Research Institute (hereinafter the "Institute").

Article 2(Definitions)

  1. 1.
    The terms used in these Terms are defined as follows. A "Member" means a person who has registered as a member by providing personal information to the Institute, who has entered into a service use agreement with the Institute and has been granted a member ID.
  2. 2.
    Except as defined in Paragraph 1, the meaning of the terms used in these Terms shall follow the relevant statutes and the service usage guidelines.

Article 3(Effect and Amendment of the Terms)

  1. 1.
    The Institute shall post the contents of these Terms on the initial service screen of the site so that Members can easily become aware of them.
  2. 2.
    The Institute may amend these Terms within the scope that does not violate relevant laws, including the Act on the Regulation of Terms and Conditions, the Framework Act on Electronic Transactions, the Digital Signature Act, and the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection.
  3. 3.
    When the Institute amends these Terms, it shall specify the effective date and the reason for the amendment and, together with the current Terms, announce them on the initial screen of the service site provided by the Institute from seven (7) days before the effective date until the day preceding the effective date. However, where the Terms are changed to the disadvantage of Members, the announcement shall be made with a prior grace period of at least thirty (30) days. In such case, the Institute shall clearly compare the contents before and after the amendment so that Members can easily understand them.
  4. 4.
    Members have the right to refuse the amended Terms. If a Member does not agree to the amended Terms, the Member may discontinue use of the service and terminate the service use agreement. However, if a Member continues to use the service after the effective date of the amended Terms, the Member shall be deemed to have agreed to the changes to the Terms.

Article 4(Rules Other Than the Terms)

These Terms apply together with separate policies and operating rules concerning the services provided by the Institute. Matters not specified in these Terms and the interpretation of these Terms shall be governed by the relevant statutes.

Chapter 2Use Agreement

Article 5(Formation of the Use Agreement)

The use agreement is formed when a Member who has agreed to these Terms applies using the prescribed membership registration form online or by a method determined by the Institute, and the Institute accepts such application.

Article 6(Application for Service Use)

A customer who wishes to register as a Member and use this service must provide the various information requested by the Institute (email address).

Article 7(Application for Service Use)

  1. 1.
    The Institute shall make efforts to protect the personal information of Members, including membership registration information, in accordance with the relevant statutes. The protection and use of Members' personal information shall be governed by the relevant statutes and the Institute's privacy policy. However, the Company's privacy policy does not apply to sites linked from the web other than the Company's official site. In addition, the Company assumes no responsibility whatsoever for information exposed due to reasons attributable to the Member.
  2. 2.
    The Institute may provide and share customers' personal information with affiliates in order to improve the quantity and quality of the services provided to customers. In such case, the Institute shall provide and share only the minimum necessary information after obtaining the customer's consent, and shall specify to whom, for what purpose, and what information is provided and shared.
  3. 3.
    A Member may withdraw consent to the collection and use of personal information provided to the Company at any time if desired, and such withdrawal of consent shall be effected by withdrawing membership.
  4. 4.
    The Institute may request additional personal information with the consent of the Member for purposes such as service improvement and the introduction of services to Members.

Article 8(Acceptance and Restriction of Use Applications)

  1. 1.
    With respect to a customer applying for use under Article 6, the Institute shall, in principle, accept service use in the order of receipt where there is no operational or technical impediment.
  2. 2.
    The Institute may restrict acceptance of a use application in any of the following cases, and may withhold acceptance until the relevant cause is resolved.
    • a.
      Where there is insufficient capacity in the Institute's service-related facilities
    • b.
      Where there is a technical impediment on the part of the Institute
    • c.
      Where it is otherwise deemed necessary due to the Company's circumstances
  3. 3.
    The Institute may decline to accept a use application in any of the following cases.
    • a.
      Where the email address is not one actually in use
    • b.
      Where the contents of the use agreement application form are falsely stated
    • c.
      Where the application is made for the purpose of undermining public safety and order or good morals
    • d.
      Where the applicant intends to use this service for an improper purpose
    • e.
      Where the applicant intends to use this service for profit-seeking purposes
    • f.
      Where the registration application requirements established by the Company are otherwise not met
    • g.
      Where a user in a competitive relationship with this service applies
    • h.
      Where the application otherwise violates the prescribed general provisions
  4. 4.
    Where a customer applying for use is a minor as defined by the relevant statutes, the Company may withhold acceptance in accordance with the guidelines for each service.

Chapter 3Obligations of the Contracting Parties

Article 10(Obligations of the Institute)

  1. 1.
    The Institute shall not engage in any act prohibited by law or these Terms, and shall make efforts to provide the service continuously and reliably.
  2. 2.
    The Institute shall establish a security system to protect Members' personal information and credit information so that users may use the service safely.
  3. 3.
    The Institute shall not disclose or distribute to third parties any personal information of Members that it becomes aware of in connection with the provision of the service without the consent of the Member. However, such information may be provided at the request of a state agency pursuant to law, for the purpose of an investigation, or as statistical data that cannot identify an individual.
  4. 4.
    The Institute shall promptly handle any opinion or complaint raised by a Member where it is recognized as legitimate. However, where prompt handling is difficult, the Institute shall notify the Member of the reason and the schedule.
  5. 5.
    In order to provide continuous and reliable service, the Institute shall, without delay, repair or restore facilities that are defective or lost. However, in cases of natural disaster, emergency, or other unavoidable circumstances, the service may be temporarily suspended or discontinued. In such case, the Institute shall notify Members without delay.

Article 11(Obligations of the Member)

  1. 1.
    The Member's information entered at the time of membership registration must be accurate. In addition, the Member must maintain and update the previously provided member information so that it remains accurate.
  2. 2.
    A Member shall not engage in any of the following communication activities that undermine public safety, order, and good morals.
    • a.
      Content intended for the purpose of a criminal act or abetting a criminal act
    • b.
      Content that harms good customs or other social order
    • c.
      Acts that damage the reputation of others or cause them disadvantage
    • d.
      Acts of using another person's resident registration number or password
    • e.
      Acts of infringing the intellectual property rights of other Members or third parties
    • f.
      Acts of registering or distributing computer virus-infected data that causes malfunction of information and communications facilities or the destruction and disruption of information
    • g.
      Posting, mailing, or otherwise transmitting advertisements, promotional materials, spam mail, chain letters, pyramid schemes, or any other form of solicitation not approved by the Institute
    • h.
      Reproducing, distributing, or commercially using information obtained through the service without the prior consent of the Institute
    • i.
      Other acts that violate statutes
  3. 3.
    A Member shall comply with these Terms and the relevant statutes.
  4. 4.
    If a Member violates the foregoing provisions, the Institute may immediately terminate the agreement and restrict use, and may claim damages arising therefrom.

Chapter 4Use of the Service

Article 13(Provision of Information)

The Institute may provide various information deemed necessary for Members' use of the service by means such as email or ordinary mail, and Members may refuse to receive information by sending an opt-out email to the Institute.

Article 14(Copyright and Management of Postings)

The Institute values the postings of Members and does its best to protect them from alteration, damage, or deletion. However, where the content of a service posted or provided by a Member is judged to fall under any of the following, it may be deleted without prior notice.

  1. a.
    Where the content slanders or damages the reputation of other Members or third parties
  2. b.
    Where false facts are spread
  3. c.
    Where the content violates public order and good morals
  4. d.
    Where the content infringes intellectual property rights or other rights of others
  5. e.
    Where it violates the posting principles prescribed by the Institute or does not conform to the nature of the bulletin board
  6. f.
    Where it is a spam posting
  7. g.
    Where it is otherwise judged to violate the relevant statutes

Article 15(Service Hours)

  1. 1.
    Service operation shall, in principle, be available 24 hours a day, year-round, unless there is an operational or technical problem on the part of the Institute. However, this shall not apply to times set by the Institute due to needs such as regular maintenance, which shall be announced in advance.
  2. 2.
    The Institute may separately set the available hours for certain services. In such case, it shall be announced through the service usage guidelines.

Article 16(Suspension of Service Provision)

  1. 1.
    The Institute may suspend the provision of the service in any of the following cases.
    • a.
      Where it is due to construction such as the expansion or repair of service facilities
    • b.
      Where a key telecommunications business operator prescribed by the Telecommunications Business Act has suspended the service
    • c.
      Other cases of force majeure
  2. 2.
    Except in cases of force majeure such as natural disaster or national emergency, Members shall be notified before the provision of the service is suspended.

Chapter 5Termination of Agreement and Restriction of Use

Article 17(Termination of Agreement and Restriction of Use)

  1. 1.
    When a Member wishes to terminate the use agreement, the Member shall apply for termination by notifying the Institute of the Member's own real name, user number (ID), resident registration number, and the like.
  2. 2.
    The Institute may, without prior notice, terminate the use agreement or suspend service use where a Member has committed any of the following acts.
    • a.
      Where the Member has intentionally interfered with the Institute's service operation
    • b.
      Where the Member has spread content that undermines public order and good morals
    • c.
      Where the Member has stolen another person's resident registration number or password
    • d.
      Where the Member applied by entering false content when completing the membership registration form
    • e.
      Where the Member has committed an act that damages the reputation of others or causes them disadvantage
    • f.
      Where the Member has posted illegal postings
    • g.
      Where the Member otherwise commits an act that violates the law

Chapter 6Protection of Personal Information

Article 18(Privacy Policy)

The Institute makes efforts to protect the personal information entered by a Member at the time of registration as well as financial transaction information and other contents acquired in the course of providing the service. The protection of Members' personal information shall be governed by the Institute's "Privacy Policy" and the relevant statutes.

Chapter 7Damages

Article 19(Damages)

The Institute assumes no responsibility for any damage arising from a Member's negligence.

Article 20(Disclaimer)

  1. 1.
    The Institute assumes no responsibility where a Member has failed to obtain the level of benefit expected from using the service, or for damage arising from the use of service materials.
  2. 2.
    The Institute assumes no responsibility for any impediment to service use caused by reasons attributable to the Member.
  3. 3.
    The Institute assumes no responsibility for the provision of the service where it is unable to provide the service due to force majeure such as a natural disaster.
  4. 4.
    The Institute assumes no responsibility for the reliability, accuracy, or the like of materials transmitted or provided by affiliate sites.

Chapter 8Intellectual Property Rights

Article 21(Intellectual Property Rights)

  1. 1.
    The rights to and responsibility for materials posted by a Member while using the service belong to the Member, and the Institute may not use them for commercial purposes without the Member's consent. However, for non-commercial purposes, they may be posted within the scope of the relevant service.
  2. 2.
    Materials, services, software, trademarks, and the like for which the Institute holds intellectual property rights may not, in whole or in part, be modified, rented, lent, distributed, produced, transferred, sub-licensed, subjected to a security interest, or commercially used without the written consent of the Institute, and the Member shall compensate for all damages and losses arising therefrom.

Article 21-2(Notice Regarding the Use of Generative AI)

  1. 1.
    The Institute may use generative artificial intelligence tools, such as Anthropic's Claude, in the process of developing and improving certain features, programs, screens, content, or operational support tasks of the service.
  2. 2.
    Generative artificial intelligence tools are a means to assist development and the performance of tasks, and the Institute bears responsibility for the final provision, operation, and management of the service.
  3. 3.
    Outputs produced or assisted by generative artificial intelligence tools may be reflected in the service after undergoing the Institute's review procedures, and users understand that, given the nature of generative artificial intelligence, some information may contain errors, inaccuracies, or limitations in timeliness.
  4. 4.
    The Institute continuously carries out the review and improvement measures necessary to enhance service quality.

Chapter 9Competent Court

Article 22(Competent Court)

  1. 1.
    In the event of a dispute arising in connection with the service, the court having jurisdiction over the location of the Institute's head office shall be the competent court.
  2. 2.
    Affiliate sites shall be governed by the terms of the relevant site.

Addendum

(Effective Date) These Terms shall apply and take effect from March 1, 2026.
